At PRAMCUDDLE we handcraft beautiful and exclusive heirloom garments.
Each PRAMCUDDLE piece is unique and timeless. In addition to the natural variations found in our source materials, each of our exceptionally skilled artisans have their own individual style and technique. They take their time to hand craft the finest possible pieces and they are paid fairly for their time and experience.
Corporate ethics are extremely important to us.
The social and environmental impact of our operations is very positive, and all of our pieces are created in a fair and responsible way.
The three main materials used by PRAMCUDDLE are Brushtail Possum fur and fibre (sourced only from New Zealand), sheepskin and leather. We do not source these materials from mass market suppliers / tanneries.
You may be aware that much of the sheepskin, fur and leather used in garment and shoe manufacture is tanned in factories using toxic chemicals and heavy metals.
Adults and Children wear finished garments without understanding how they were produced, without considering the impact these chemicals may have on their health, and without knowing that toxic by-products are dumped into local ecosystems.
PRAMCUDDLE garments and products are fundamentally different. At PRAMCUDDLE our concern for your health and the environment is paramount.
All of the materials used by PRAMCUDDLE are naturally tanned and sourced from the worlds leaders in ecologically safe tanning using new, patented, innovative processes which eliminate the traditional use of heavy metals and harsh chemicals.
All fibres and materials used in the creation of our luxury garments exceed current international standards for infant textiles.
All PRAMCUDDLE pieces are handmade, and bespoke orders are welcomed.
The babycare sheepskins we use are approved by Woolmark and are tanned in New Zealand to meet the Oko-Tex 100 mark.
Independent scientific testing in Switzerland ensures that they are free from any harmful substances, and that they are safe for infants and children.
Our babycare sheepskins provide your child with luxurious comfort and support, plus natural climate control, and have anti-moisture abilities superior to any man made fabric.
They breathe and absorb up to 30% of their weight in moisture without feeling damp, and gradually release that moisture into the air. They are also naturally anti-bacterial and perfect for sensitive skin.
At PRAMCUDDLE we source the finest quality leather from the internationally recognised leader in eco-tanning (the ISO 1401 environmental standard has been implemented to document the environmental-saving production technologies used).
The leather we use is created in Europe using a new patented vegetable synthetic
production process which results in the finished leather having unique characteristics.
Because of these qualities it is mostly used in the manufacture of ultra-luxury European automobiles and in private aircraft.
The finished leather is antibacterial, antimicrobial, water resistant, mildew resistant, lightfast and break resistant even at freezing temperatures.
The leather is of heirloom quality, and with minimal care it will retain its handsome appearance for generations of children to come.
The Australian Brushtail Possum currently destroys ten million tonnes of New Zealand’s native vegetation annually, placing serious strain on native ecosystems. The destruction of native habitats has led the New Zealand government ordering possum population controls which are supported by the World Wildlife Fund.
For a limited period in time we are in the unique situation of being able to use the beautiful soft fur fibres of the Possum (with incredible heat retention qualities comparable to that of Polar Bear fur) and help save the New Zealand native environment.
Possum fur fibre is perfect for babies and children in that it will not freeze, is exceptional at retaining heat, draws moisture away from the body and has natural anti-bacterial properties to help prevent odour.
It is also non-static (and consequently a low allergy risk as the fibres do not attract dust) and is one of the least flammable fibres available for use in garment creation. All of our Possum fur and fibre is naturally tanned and or dyed in New Zealand to the highest standards.
